Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- Mount Lavinia Police have arrested one of five suspects involved in the alleged kidnapping and robbery of a retired army officer in front of a showroom in Mount Lavinia.
Police say the gang stole the victim's V8 jeep and over Rs.530,000 in cash.
The arrested suspect is a 54-year-old man from Anderson Road, Kalubowila, who works as a vehicle seizure agent.
Police investigations revealed that the retired officer, a resident of Thannekumbura, Kandy, had bought the jeep on a promise of continuing instalment payments from another person.
He was in Moratuwa on an errand and was on his way back to Kandy when the jeep had a technical issue, forcing him to stop in Mount Lavinia.
