Suspect arrested for abusing dog
Sri Lanka, June 29 -- A suspect who kicked and abused a dog travelling on the road with Katharagama Pada Yatra devotees was arrested by the Kalmunai Headquarters Police.
The arrest was made based on a complaint received by the Chief Inspector of the Kalmunai Headquarters Police Station.
The relevant dog is a dog named Subramanian, who was travelling with a group participating in the Katharagama Pada Yatra from Jaffna.
Hindu organisations also condemned the attack carried out by the suspect in the Kalmunai area as an inhuman act.
The assault on the dog named Subramanian, who travelled approximately 450 kilometres, circulated rapidly on social media. Various organisations are expressing different views regarding this incident.
