Sri Lanka, Oct. 11 -- The Western Province North Crime Division has arrested a suspect 32 years after he allegedly stabbed and murdered a youth in the Gonawala area.
The arrested man is a 63-year-old driver residing in Pattiwila, Gonawala.
The arrest was made yesterday (October 10) following a raid based on a tip-off received by an officer of the Crime Division.
The murder occurred 32 years ago, on 25 October 1993.
The victim was a young man named H. M. Ajith Perera, alias 'Chooti Malli, a resident of Owilana Road, Pattiwila, Gonawala, within the Sapugaskanda Police Division.
Police noted that the suspect was previously involved in drug trafficking and organised crime in the Gonawala area at the time.
