Sri Lanka, Sept. 22 -- Speaker announces Supreme Court reports 22nd Constitutional Amendment is consistent with constitution

The Speaker informed parliament of the Supreme Court's interpretation regarding the 22nd Constitutional Amendment.

Accordingly, the Speaker mentioned that the Supreme Court stated the 22nd Constitutional Amendment is constitutional.

Furthermore, the Speaker stated that a two-thirds majority is sufficient for passage and that a referendum is not required.
