Sri Lanka, Sept. 5 -- Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the Uva, Central, and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu districts after 2.00 pm today (05), the Department of Meteorology stated in a notice.

Fairly heavy showers of more than 75 mm can occur at some places.

A few showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts, according to the announcement.

The department requests the public to take necessary steps to minimise damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
