Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- While heads of state must be prosecuted for serious crimes committed during their tenure, the arrest of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe on a Friday and the decision to oppose bail appeared ill-advised.

These are the views of Former parliamentarian and ITAK General Secretary MA Sumanthiran PC.

Taking to social media, Sumanthiran stressed that no one is above the law, questioned that the timing of the arrest, and the insistence on refusing bail for the alleged offence.
