Sri Lanka, Sept. 3 -- Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya has directed officials to address a number of welfare and academic issues raised by student activists.

The Prime Minister, who also serves as the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, met with representatives of the Inter-University Institute Student Activists Committee at the Ministry of Education.

The student activists highlighted concerns regarding the three-year degree programme at the University of Vocational Technology.

They requested a reduction in the course duration, citing that students already complete two to three years of vocational training before enrolling.
