Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has warned that it will launch a strike tomorrow, September 22, if those who threatened doctors and health staff at Kalutara Nagoda Hospital are not arrested immediately.

The GMOA is also demanding that authorities guarantee the safety of the hospital's entire staff.

According to Dr Prabath Sugathadasa, the association's secretary, a group of relatives of a deceased cancer patient went to Ward 16 of the hospital on September 17 and threatened the doctors, nurses, and other health staff.

He said the group disrupted treatment for other patients for about an hour.

The GMOA says that a police complaint was filed, but no arrests have been made so far.
