Sri Lanka, Sept. 5 -- The Sri Lanka Navy has rescued a group of eight people who were stranded on a sandbank in the sea off Talaimannar.

The group reportedly included four women and three children, along with one other individual.

According to the Navy, preliminary reports indicate that the group had travelled by sea from a refugee camp in southern India before becoming stranded in the waters off Talaimannar.

The circumstances surrounding their journey and the incident are expected to be subject to further investigation.
