Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- Police investigators suspect a revolver stolen from the Kompannaweediya Police armoury was used in the shooting of a female drug dealer in Marawila.

The victim was Vasanthi Chathurani, who was also known as 'Suddi'.

The murder took place on June 22.

The revolver was stolen from the police armoury on July 21 by a sergeant working at the same station. During questioning, the sergeant said he gave the weapon to a person named 'Mawathagama Amila' for Rs. 100,000.

It was later revealed that the weapon was rented out.

The revolver was eventually found on August 7, hidden on Temple Road, D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, by officers from the Colombo Central Division Crime Investigation Bureau.
