Station Masters' Association backs BASL stance on proposed 22nd Amendment
Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- The Sri Lanka Station Masters' Association states that it expresses full support for the stance taken by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) regarding the proposed 22nd constitutional amendment, as well as for the legal and constitutional actions being taken on its behalf.
Points made by the association in a letter addressed to the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka indicate that protecting the independence of the judiciary, the rule of law, the principle of separation of powers, and the sovereignty of the people are responsibilities not limited to a single professional group but are responsibilities of the entire citizen society.
