Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- The Ceylon Bank Employees' Union has announced they will stage a protest today (12) in Colombo.

The demonstration will take place in front of the Lake House roundabout and is organised to oppose the government's programme to privatise state banks, along with several other issues.

Meanwhile, the Joint Trade Union Alliance of Electricity says it will intensify its ongoing work-to-rule campaign across the country from September 15.

The unions are protesting the arbitrary restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), as the government has not provided a solution to their concerns.
