Sri Lanka, Oct. 24 -- The Times of India reports, citing police sources, that a 71-year-old Sri Lankan woman was found dead in a hotel in the Shravasti District of Uttar Pradesh, India.

The deceased was identified by local reports as a person named Kodagoda, the wife of an individual named Sunil Shanthi de Silva.

She was part of a 46-member group of tourists who had arrived from Colombo for a pilgrimage to Buddhist sites.

Last Wednesday morning, her fellow tourists became suspicious when she did not leave her hotel room for a prolonged period.

They opened the room with the assistance of the hotel staff and found the woman deceased.

The hotel staff informed the manager, who subsequently notified the police.
