Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- The 13 Sri Lankan powerlifters who represented the country at the 2025 Asian Powerlifting Championship in Nepal have won a total of 34 medals: 27 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze.
They arrived at the Katunayake Airport today (21) after the tournament's conclusion. The championship was held from August 15 to 17 in Kathmandu, Nepal, with the participation of 200 competitors from countries across the Asian region.
In the most significant event of the tournament, the open category, Ransilu Jayathilaka and Hiruni Jayasinghe won two gold medals.
Ransilu Jayathilaka set a new Asian-Pacific record by lifting 310 kg.
This marks the seventh time that Ransilu has won a medal at an Asian championship.
