Srilanka, March 29 -- Officers at Katunayake Airport apprehend two men suspected of aiding a large-scale narcotics operation following their deportation from India.

The suspects, aged 23 and 57, fled to India by sea after a January police raid in Ganemulla uncovered over four kilograms of cocaine and thousands of illicit tablets.

Indian security forces detained the pair on the 24th for illegal entry before returning them to Sri Lankan custody yesterday.

Investigations link the men to a previously arrested female suspect as her husband and son.

The Criminal Investigation Department now holds both individuals for further questioning by the Western Province North Crimes Division.
