Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- Sri Lanka's Cabinet Spokesman and Minister of Health and Media, Dr Nalinda Jayatissa, has dismissed allegations of political interference in ongoing judicial proceedings, insisting that legal institutions are operating independently.

His comments come in response to recent speculation on social media, including claims made by a YouTuber suggesting the possible arrest of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

"The role of the government is to ensure that relevant agencies have the support they need-nothing more," Dr Jayatissa told reporters at a media briefing.
