Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Sri Lanka has secured a prominent position on the global financial map, landing a notable 7.5% weighting in J.P. Morgan's upcoming frontier-market local-currency government bond index.

Slated for launch by the end of September, the Government Bond Index-Emerging Markets Edge (GBI-EM Edge) will monitor roughly US$330 billion in government debt spread across 26 frontier economies. By capturing these smaller, high-yield markets, the benchmark acts as a vital compass for international investors seeking exposure to domestic-currency assets.
