Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- The United Nations Women programme has identified a significant decline in Sri Lanka's gender equality standing on the global stage.
The UN Women's findings indicate that while Sri Lanka was ranked 18th out of 115 countries in 2006, the nation has plummeted to 130th out of 148 countries in 2025.
These facts were revealed when the UN Women programme presented the main findings and recommendations of its research on gender equality in Sri Lanka to the Forum of Women Parliamentarians.
The presentation took place at a recent meeting of the Forum, which was held in Parliament under the Chairmanship of Minister Saroja Savithri Paulraj.
