Sri Lanka, Oct. 19 -- 35 malaria patients have been identified in Sri Lanka so far this year, according to Consultant Community Physician Dr. Indeewarie Gunaratna.

In an inquiry made by Hiru News, she stated that all the identified patients are individuals who returned from foreign countries where malaria is prevalent.

Dr. Gunaratna noted that these patients had travelled to countries such as India, Thailand, and Myanmar for employment and gem businesses.

She confirmed that 34 of the patients have completely recovered, and only one individual passed away.

Dr. Gunaratna advised the public that anyone planning to travel overseas should obtain the necessary medication from the Anti-Malaria Campaign Headquarters, Narahenpita or from regio...
