Sri Lanka records $133 Mn current account surplus in August
Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- Sri Lanka's external current account moved back into a surplus of $133 million in August, following four consecutive months of deficits, as a reduction in import expenditure helped contain the trade gap compared with previous months.
The surplus came after deficits between April and July, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka's (CBSL) External Sector Performance report for August.
However, the latest surplus was significantly lower than the $376 million recorded in August 2025.
