Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has donated a consignment of emergency humanitarian relief supplies valued at 250,641 US dollars to Sri Lanka to enhance the country's disaster preparedness.

The Ministry of Health stated that the financial support for the consignment was provided by the governments of Australia and New Zealand.

The initiative aims to strengthen the prompt delivery of essential health, hygiene, and protection facilities to vulnerable groups, particularly women, young girls, pregnant mothers, and the elderly, during disaster situations.
