Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- A special discussion to formulate plans for launching a passenger drone service in the country has been held chaired by Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilaka.

The ministry announced that a delegation from China's EHang company, which has come forward to provide the service, also participated in the meeting.

Minister Anura Karunathilaka emphasised that formal approval from authorities regarding all aspects, including aviation safety, regulatory framework, emergency operations, cyber security, and landing locations, is strictly required before commercially launching passenger drone operations in Sri Lanka.
