Sri Lanka, Oct. 20 -- Sri Lanka is intensifying its efforts to promote the organic cultivation of fruits and vegetables specifically for export, responding to forthcoming European Union sustainability legislation.

An official confirmed the move yesterday (19), as the EU prepares to implement stricter standards for agricultural imports.

The European Union is finalising new regulations under its global sustainable development policy.

These laws will soon require all exporters of farm products to EU markets-including companies and individual producers-to adhere to specific sustainability criteria.
