Sri Lanka, April 9 -- The Railways Department announced the operation of several special train services to facilitate passengers travelling to their hometowns and returning for the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

According to the announcement, special trains will run on the following routes starting April 10, 2026:

Northern Railway Line:

·Colombo Fort to Anuradhapura: Scheduled to depart Fort at 6:40 AM on April 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19. These trains include two first-class reserved seating carriages.

·Kankesanthurai to Anuradhapura: Scheduled to depart Kankesanthurai at 6:00 AM on April 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19.
