Sri Lanka, Aug. 19 -- The South Korean National Police Agency announced on Monday to foreign media that it is launching a special 100-day crackdown on abuse and harassment against migrant workers.

A special unit has been established for this purpose in all 18 of the country's provincial police agencies.

The unit is scheduled to carry out the special crackdown operation for 100 days until November 25.

During this period, they will investigate acts of abuse such as assaults, physical harm, coercion, insults, and sexual harassment against foreign workers.

This move was prompted by a video that circulated on social media, showing a Sri Lankan worker being tied to a forklift and lifted into the air, which sparked widespread outrage.
