Sri Lanka, May 11 -- Sluice gates of several major reservoirs across the island were opened following an increase in water levels caused by heavy rainfall.

The Irrigation Department reports that 12 sluice gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir are currently open: four gates at 06 feet, four gates at 05 feet, and the remaining four at 04 feet. This releases a total water capacity of 14,565 cubic feet per second into the Kala Oya.

Additionally, two sluice gates of the Angamuwa Reservoir were opened by 01 foot each, discharging 653 cubic feet of water per second into the Kala Oya.

Due to persistent rains, four sluice gates of the Deduru Oya Reservoir were also adjusted to an opening of 02 feet around 8:30 PM, releasing 5,500 cubic feet of wat...
