Sri Lanka, Sept. 20 -- The Minister of Ports, Transport, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Ratnayake, says new female drivers and conductors recruited to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will be provided with uniforms similar to those worn by air hostesses.
Speaking at a depot development programme in Thalangama, Minister Ratnayake said that the government believes the lack of attractive uniforms and good salaries has discouraged young people from joining the SLTB in the past.
He added that the new uniforms are intended to make the service more appealing.
The government has decided to recruit 450 new drivers and 300 conductors.
