Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- Employees of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) have staged a protest yesterday (25) expressing discontent with the newly launched integrated timetable for public and private buses.
The protest coincides with the first phase of the programme, which saw buses travelling along the Puttalam corridor from the Bastion Mawatha bus depot in Colombo.
The SLTB employees allege that the integrated timetable unfairly offers more profitable routes to private buses.
They have also accused private bus drivers and assistants of frequently assaulting SLTB staff, claiming such incidents occur at least once a month.
