Six suspects acquitted in Ranil Wickremesinghe private house arson case
Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- Six suspects, including Aragalaya activist Priyath Nikeshala and former Member of Parliament J. Sri Ranga, were acquitted and discharged in the case regarding the setting fire to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe's private residence on 09 July 2022 during the Aragalaya. Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued this order on the 07th of October.
Travel bans on all suspects in the case were ordered to be lifted, with instructions given to notify the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration.
This order was issued following submissions made by the Criminal Investigation Department when the case was called.
