Six nabbed after assault on Police OIC and officers at Kotagala wedding brawl
Sri Lanka, June 17 -- A clash between two groups at a wedding hall in Kotagala, Hatton, this afternoon (17) led to an attack on police officers, including the Officer-in-Charge of the Dimbula Patana Police Station, who had arrived to control the situation.
Two police officers and three others were injured and hospitalised.
Police said a group of residents from Watagoda, Talawakele, had organised a wedding ceremony at a hall in Kotagala town today.
During the event, a fight broke out between two groups who were reportedly intoxicated.
Two on-duty police officers first arrived at the scene to control the situation, but both groups allegedly turned on them and assaulted them, causing injuries.
