Sri Lanka, Oct. 14 -- The Department of Meteorology has announced that rain or thundershowers may occur in most parts of the island after 1:00 PM today (14).

Heavy rainfall, exceeding 100 mm, is likely in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

Rain is also expected in the Western and Southern provinces during the morning hours.

Additionally, misty conditions may prevail in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and North Central provinces during the morning.

The Department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimise dangers from temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany the thundershow
