Sri Lanka, Oct. 30 -- The Department of Meteorology forecasts several spells of showers in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

A few showers may also occur in the North Western Province.

Rain or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Central, Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts, after 1:00 p.m. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations in these areas.

Mainly fair weather is expected to prevail over the rest of the island.

The Department has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
