Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- The Sevanagala Sugar Factory is set to be converted into a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Enterprise Development, Chathuranga Abeysinghe. The Deputy Minister made the announcement today (9) in Parliament.

He stressed that no employees would be placed at risk as a result of the transition.

Deputy Minister Abeysinghe outlined the government's strategy for the factory:

"Regarding the Sevanagala sugar issue, the government's aim is to maintain this as a state institution.
