SC concludes hearing on petitions challenging 22A
Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- The Supreme Court announced today (02) that it has concluded hearing the petitions filed challenging the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill presented to Parliament by the government, and that it will forward its confidential determination regarding the constitutionality of the Bill to the Speaker of Parliament.
The announcement was made by a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, following the consideration of submissions presented by the Attorney General and the lawyers representing the petitions filed challenging the Bill as well as those intervening in support of it.
