Sajith urges respect for religious traditions in sensitive cases
Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says that while the court operates strictly within a legal framework, a government must act with sensitivity towards social traditions, consensus, and cultural identity.
Issuing a statement, Premadasa referred to media reports showing Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero being brought to court today dressed in lay clothes without his consent. He noted that defendants are typically allowed to wear suitable civilian attire to uphold the court's dignity.
