Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- The public exposition of the sacred bodily relics of Lord Buddha, brought from India, enters its fourth day today (8) at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo.
Devotees from across the island have been flocking to the temple since early morning to pay homage to the "Devnimori" relics, which are being displayed outside India for the very first time in history.
Discovered in the 1960s at the historic Devnimori archaeological site in Gujarat, India, these relics were unearthed from a stupa and are inscribed with the phrase "Dashabala Sharira Nilaya," identifying them as the abode of the Buddha's bodily remains.
