Sri Lanka, June 5 -- Proper training methods led to the success of javelin champion Rumesh Tharanga, according to his father, P.T. Premakeerthi.

Tharanga won the event at the Rome Diamond League athletic meet in Italy yesterday with a performance of 92.97 metres, recording the 8th highest javelin throw ever registered in the world.
