Sri Lanka, July 15 -- The first procession of the historic Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya Esala festival will parade the streets tonight, commencing the annual event today (15).

The Kataragama Esala festival will be held for 15 days.

The final grand procession will take place on the 29th of this month, and the festival will conclude the following morning with the water-cutting ceremony in the Menik River.
