Rs. 300,000 bribe case at Central Mail Exchange remands two
Sri Lanka, July 10 -- The Officer-in-Charge of the Central Mail Exchange and a postal assistant who allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.500,000 and accepted Rs. 300,000 of it to release a parcel from the Central Mail Exchange, were ordered to be remanded in custody until July 24 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (10).
The Magistrate ordered a bail for the second suspect fo the incident, a customs officer at the Central Mail Exchange, on two personal bails of Rs. 10,000.
Court also ordered a travel ban on that suspect.
These orders were delivered after the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption presented the suspects to court and made submissions.
