Sri Lanka, Nov. 8 -- Construction of a 26-kilometer, 220kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Mannar and Mullikulam is set to begin today (08), with Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka presiding over the inauguration.

Fully funded by the Sri Lankan Government at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.5 billion, the project will link the 100MW Mullikulam wind power plant to the national grid while enhancing overall grid stability.

The new line will run from the existing Mannar 220/33kV grid substation to the planned 220kV metering substation in Mullikulam.
