Sri Lanka, Dec. 27 -- A close relative of overseas-based alleged drug trafficker and alleged organised criminal "Heenatiyana Mahesh" was apprehended in possession of a pistol and 15 rounds of T-56 ammunition.

The arrest was made by the Western Province North Crimes Division during a targeted investigation.

The suspect, known by the alias "Jinga," reportedly operated in Minuwangoda, Angoda, Heenatiyana, and Katunayake.

Investigations reveal that he was actively involved in collecting extortion money across these areas on behalf of the criminal network.
