Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- Former Minister and leader of the United Republican Front, Champika Ranawaka, has leveled serious accusations against the new government, claiming that the arrest and remand of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is an act of political vengeance rather than a commitment to justice.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the opposition parties today (24), Ranawaka argued that the government is trying to create a public perception that "everyone is subject to the law, and no one is above it." However, he believes this is merely a facade for political retribution.

Ranawaka highlighted several points to support his claims:

Selective Justice: He noted that several ministers in the current cabinet face corruption...
