Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- The Department of Irrigation has announced that two sluice gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir have been opened due to the prevailing heavy rainfall.

The Department further stated that the water level of the Angamuwa Reservoir is also close to the spilling level, and therefore, its sluice gates may also need to be opened shortly.

The Department of Irrigation has issued a strong warning, urging residents living in the low-lying areas along the Kala Oya basin to be vigilant and exercise caution.
