Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- A special discussion was held today (12) regarding a strike action planned by railway trade unions in protest against the failure of authorities to take proper measures regarding persistent train delays, cancellations, and technical breakdowns.

Accordingly, 27 railway trade unions are planning to stage a 48-hour strike on 17 and 18 September.

Trade unions stated that the failure of authorities to provide proper solutions for frequent train delays, cancellations, and recurring technical breakdowns has led to the decision to launch this trade union action.
