Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- The Railway Controllers' Union has suspended its decision to withdraw from train services with reserved seating, which was set to begin at midnight tonight.

The association had planned the strike in protest of a new regulation that required passengers without an ID number on their ticket to pay an additional fee of Rs. 3,000 for a supplemental ticket.

However, after a discussion with the new General Manager of Railways, Ravindra Padmapriya, this afternoon (14), the issue was resolved.

The Secretary of the Railway Regulators' Association, K.D.D. Prasad stated that because a solution was found for the issue, the strike was suspended.
