Sri Lanka, June 7 -- The Railway Department has announced that all signal systems across the island will undergo special inspections.

The General Manager of Railways, Dhammika Jayasundara, stated that the signal system on the coastal line from Colombo Fort to Kalutara will be specifically inspected today (7) and tomorrow (8).

He added that the section from Panadura to Moratuwa has already been inspected, and railway signal officers have certified it as safe.

The issue with the coastal line's signal system arose the day before yesterday, when the "Sagarika" train stopped near Modara, Moratuwa, due to a broken rail.
