Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- Parliamentarian and Deputy Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance V. Radhakrishnan stated that both the United National Party and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya working as a single party would be beneficial for the country's future.
Speaking to the media today (October 12) after a meeting in Hatton town, he urged everyone to support the ongoing discussions aimed at successfully uniting the two parties.
Radhakrishnan pointed out that both the UNP and the SJB were defeated in the previous Presidential and Parliamentary elections because they contested separately.
He believes that by uniting for the upcoming elections, the two parties can work to regain power.
