Sri Lanka, Oct. 21 -- A widespread infestation of coconut caterpillars is causing significant damage across numerous plantations in Sri Lanka's Puttalam District.

The outbreak has already impacted more than one hundred acres of coconut cultivation, leading to serious concerns for farmers in the region.

In response, both the Coconut Research Institute and the Coconut Cultivation Board have initiated measures to combat the spread and mitigate further damage.

The Coconut Cultivation Board has also issued an urgent appeal to all affected coconut farmers, asking them to immediately inform the relevant authorities about the infestation to ensure that swift action can be taken.
