Sri Lanka, Aug. 19 -- The Sri Lanka Publishers Association requests the government to remove the income tax charged on books.

Association president Athula Jayakody stated at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday (18) that approximately 90% of countries globally do not levy taxes on reading books.

Additionally, he announced that the 27th International Book Exhibition is scheduled to be held from the 25th of next month to the 4th of October at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall premises in Colombo.
