Properties worth Rs.44 million earned from drug trafficking frozen
Sri Lanka, Oct. 3 -- Properties worth over Rs. 44.5 million illegally acquired by a woman in the Negombo area have been frozen for a period of 14 days by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division.
The Illegal Assets Investigation Division launched an investigation based on information received that a person and a woman residing in Negombo acquired assets through drug trafficking.
Accordingly, a plot of land valued at approximately Rs. 9.5 million, located in Katuneriya, and a two-storey house built on it valued at Rs. 35 million, acquired by the woman through drug trafficking, were deactivated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
